Safe practices and care required

NOTE:

  • Suitable for PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC only.
  • ACID or any CHEMICAL WASH must not contact the stainless steel ever. Ensure the contractor and homeowner are aware.
  • The stainless steel Skimmer Lid Edge Protector may require earthing/bonding depending on local requirements. Consult a licensed electrician for advice.

Allow for expansion

  • DO NOT fill the perimeter gap with grout or filler between the lid and inlay. Maintain the small gap outlined in the installation instructions.
  • Cut the stone carefully to provide a neat finish without fillers between the lid and the inlaid stone. As outlined in the installation instructions, there needs to be a small gap.

Consider and plan installation before project commences

step-1.1

Set depth - When laying levelling bed provide space for edge protector so it will be flush with top of desired finishing material.

step-2

Fill the recess with a mortar bed then push in Edge Protector until it fits in with its surrounds. If required, connect the bonding/earthing wire to the pre-drilled hole in the Edge Protector.

step3

Check alignment and finished levels before setting the inlay. Good set-out protects the final look and ensures smooth operation.

#faqs

Frequently Asked Questions

Have Question? We are here to help

Can I replace a standard plastic skimmer lid with a HIDE Skimmer Cover?

Yes—HIDE Skimmer Covers are commonly used as a retrofit replacement for standard plastic skimmer lids, as well as in new builds.

What inlay materials can I use in a HIDE Skimmer Cover?

HIDE is designed to accept common landscape finishes such as tile, stone, pavers, concrete, artificial turf and decking (depending on the kit and project detailing). The key is selecting the correct depth for your inlay thickness and planning finished levels.

Is a stainless-steel Skimmer Cover required to be bonded/earthed?

Bonding/earthing requirements vary by local code and how equipotential bonding is implemented around the pool. Many guidelines reference bonding conductive items within 1.5m (5ft) of the water’s edge. Always confirm requirements with a licensed electrician in your jurisdiction. All HIDE stainless steel Skimmer Covers include a pre-drilled earthing/bonding hole in the frame to allow connection of a bonding wire where required.

Why does HIDE use a safety key—can the lid be lifted by hand?

HIDE uses a key access system so the lid cannot be lifted by hand—it’s child-resistant and helps prevent unauthorised access without the safety key.

What maintenance is required for stainless steel Skimmer Covers?

Maintain your Skimmer Cover with regular care and cleaning, and avoid harsh chemicals commonly used around pools. NEVER use acid wash or chemical wash on your stainless-steel skimmer lid, as it can cause damage and discolouration.

Where are HIDE Skimmer Covers made, and what warranty is offered?

HIDE Covers are crafted from 316L marine grade stainless steel in our factory in Yatala, Queensland, Australia and come with a 10-year stainless steel warranty—backing our product with long-term confidence.
