WHERE AESTHETICS MEETS PRACTICALITY

HIDE is the perfect balance between form and function.

Bring a seamless, high-end finish to your pool project with HIDE Skimmer Lids—ideal for both new pool builds and pool renovations. Designed to sit neatly over the skimmer box, each lid keeps access simple for servicing and maintenance, especially when resurfacing surrounds.

Crafted to blend into your landscape, HIDE creates a refined, uninterrupted outdoor aesthetic. With an easy-to-install, kit-based system, selecting and fitting a HIDE Skimmer Lid is straightforward for builders, contractors, and homeowners alike.

Once installed, HIDE Skimmer Lids are effortless to lift and maintain. Beneath the minimalist exterior is HIDE’s patented, industry-leading operating system—engineered for safety, strength, and peace of mind, and compliant with Australian Safety Standards.

Unlike traditional plastic lids—or loose stone with a large access hole—HIDE allows your chosen surface finish (tile, stone, or concrete) to be inset directly into the lid. The result is a fully integrated look that blends seamlessly into your surrounds, with a stainless steel cover protecting the inlay.

Whether you’re elevating a luxury backyard or upgrading an existing pool area, HIDE Skimmer Lids deliver a cleaner finish and a safer, more refined alternative—without compromising performance.

Safe practices and care required

NOTE:

  • Suitable for PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC only.
  • No ACID / CHEMICAL WASH contact by the contractor or homeowner ever.

Allow for expansion

  • DO NOT fill the void with grout or a filler between the lid and the inlay stone to allow for expansion and contraction of the steel.
  • Cut the stone carefully to provide a neat finish without fillers between the lid and the inlaid stone. As outlined in the installation instructions, there needs to be a small gap.

Consider and plan installation before project commences

Set depth level when installing HIDE edge protector

Set depth - When laying levelling bed provide space for edge protector so it will be flush with top of desired finishing material.

place the recess frame level above mortar bedding

Fill the recess with a mortar bed then push in edge protector until it fits in with its surrounds.

#faqs

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? We are here to help!

What size HIDE Skimmer Lid do I need?

Measure the skimmer opening you need to cover and choose the HIDE Skimmer Lid kit size that fits, then match the depth to your inlay thickness (tile, stone, pavers or decking). HIDE Skimmer Lid kits are available in 306, 342 and 412mm sizes, with 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60mm depth options.

Can I replace a standard plastic skimmer lid with a HIDE Skimmer Lid?

Yes—HIDE Skimmer Covers are commonly used as a retrofit replacement for standard plastic skimmer lids, as well as in new builds.

What inlay materials can I use in a HIDE Skimmer Lid?

HIDE is designed to accept common landscape finishes such as tile, stone, pavers, concrete, artificial turf and decking (depending on the kit and project detailing). The key is selecting the correct depth for your inlay thickness and planning finished levels.

Is a stainless steel Skimmer Lid required to be bonded/earthed?

Bonding/earthing requirements vary by local code and how equipotential bonding is implemented around the pool. Many guidelines reference bonding conductive items within 1.5m (5ft) of the water’s edge. Always confirm requirements with a licensed electrician in your jurisdiction. All HIDE stainless steel Skimmer Lids include a pre-drilled earthing/bonding hole in the frame to allow connection of a bonding wire where required.

What are my options if bonding/earthing is difficult on-site?

If bonding/earthing a stainless cover is problematic, HIDE offers a bond-free polymer option (and hybrid options depending on range) intended to address “bonding not achievable” situations. Choose the option that matches your project requirements and confirm with your electrician.

Why does HIDE use a safety key—can the lid be lifted by hand?

HIDE uses a key access system so the lid cannot be lifted by hand—it’s child-resistant and helps prevent unauthorised access without the safety key.

What maintenance is required for stainless steel Skimmer Lids?

Maintain your skimmer lid with regular care and maintenance, and avoid harsh chemicals commonly used around pools. NEVER use acid wash or chemical wash on your stainless steel skimmer lid, as it can cause damage and discolouration.

Where are HIDE Skimmer Lids made, and what warranty is offered?

HIDE Covers are crafted from 316L marine grade stainless steel in our factory in Yatala, Queensland, and come with a 20-year stainless steel warranty—backing our product with long-term confidence.
