CARE & MAINTENANCE

This page contains important information you need to know, so your HIDE Lid will continue to look as good as new.

Thank you for choosing a quality HIDE product!

All HIDE products are designed for durability, however, there are a few important points you need to know to keep your lid looking as good as new.

Shine

When first installed, the stainless steel of your HIDE product will be very shiny. To maintain this, you will need to look after it as per the care & maintenance booklet supplied with the kit.

Chemicals

Never let acid or chemical wash solutions come in contact with the HIDE product. These chemicals will affect the finish of the product.

Location

The location in which your HIDE Lid is installed will determine the frequency of required care & maintenance.

What is 316L Stainless Steel?

Your HIDE Hardware is made from solid 316L Stainless Steel, but what exactly does that mean?

316L Stainless Steel is marine-grade and has greater corrosion resistance than lesser gradesThe L means it is the low carbon version of 316 and offers higher corrosion resistance.

No chemicals

It is important to note that concentrations of chemicals can vary, and splash zones can cause concentrations to increase dramatically by evaporation, thus the corrosive severity of external environments can vary. The resistance of any stainless steel in harsh environments will also be dependent on whether the stainless surface can be rinsed, which will reduce the tendency for surface chlorides to concentrate by evaporation.

You need to wash and clean your HIDE product and keep it away from harsh chemicals.

What can occur?

If your Stainless Steel product doesn't receive the required care and maintenance a localised corrosive discolouration may start to become visible.

This is referred to as 'tea staining' and will appear on the surface.

Any discolouration needs to be removed immediately with a nylon scourer and soapy water to prevent the spread, and to maintain the appearance of your product.

What you need to do

  • Rinse and wipe wipe regularly with fresh water
  • Never allow any acid or chemical washing solutions
  • Ensure a Green Acid Replacement solution is used around your pool
  • Remove any sediment or debris which may gather around the lid
  • Remove any cosmetic discolouration as soon as it appears with a nylon scourer and soapy water - Rinse with fresh water
